A his was a unique achievements in the history of Motorsport, probably the greatest motorcycle racer of all time and up in the top 5 car pedallers having won his F1 title in an era when some of the greatest drivers of all time were around in very competitive machinery.
He also had a great understanding of how to engineer a bike/car into a winner.

Also he is a really nice guy :-)

Certainly a great racer/engineer with a unique record. Very much deserving of a knighthood but I don't think we can give him the greatest motorcycle racer of all time, you would have to put Agostini, Hailwood and Rossi in front of John for that title.
