Hillclimb roll protection

Is I mandatory to have a roll hoop for road going classes in hillclimbs?
Can someone point out the relevant clause in the Bluebook, I'm struggling

Sprint and hillclimb regs are the same so the answer is no. You have standard road-going cars without any rollcage. You might get some comments if you turned up in a Locost without a rollbar but you can sprint an MX5 or S2000 without one so it should be fine.

Para 10.1.2 - recommended for RG classes

but check your Club Championship specific Regs too - ours mandates them for ragtop variants.

Nothing mandatory Liam.

Welsh Sprint and Hillclimb regs don't specify anything from what I can remember.

What car actually is it?

And so does it meet the following 3 criteria:

Is it road legal?
Were at least 20 produced in a 12 month period?
Is it completely standard?

If not, or if the scrutineer thinks not I dont think you will be allowed becuase of the following rules:

Safety
10.1.1. Roll-over Safety Bars K.1 to 1.8, except for cars
of Periods A – E (Nomenclature and Definitions).
10.1.2. Road-Going Series Production and Road-Going
Specialist Production, K.1.6.1 or K.1.6.2 recommended.
10.1.3. Modified Series Production Cars and Modified
Specialist Production Cars must comply with K.1.6.1 or
K.1.6.2.

If its not road legal or has been modified you will get bumped to "Modified Specialist Production" and you will need a cage as above. If it wasn't produced in quantities of 20 it could get bumped to Sports Libre where it will also need a cage.

I suspect that most scrutineers would really not want to pass a Seven type vehicle with no roll hoop.

And as I said... thats only true if you fulfill the criteria for "Road-Going Series Production and Road-Going
Specialist Production" vehicles class.

cheers guys more than enough info, my question was with a bone stock production 1600 astra tin top in mind.

You could run in Standard Production if it's unmolested (apart from safety) or road modified (probably 1B). You might find that SP can be a bit too quick as the occasional Focus RS turns up!

And thats how the addiction starts...

My hillclimbing started 15 years ago when i decided id have a go 'just for fun'. After probably 3 ascents of Loton Park i was hooked and the JFF bullsh*t went out the wondow and i was serious lol.

Irrespective of whether youre in a showroom stock car or a DFV engined single seater, theres always someone else in a similar car to chase :-)

Me too! If Blasting up those narrow hills doesn't wake you up nothing will
And I'd do a sprint like anglesey or blyton first as at least there is some margin for error (as I found out last year sliding backwards through blytons gravel traps)

As above Liam!

Even if you're alone in a class you'll have your own times to beat. Give it a go mate! You've got Llys y Fran on your doorstep and Llandow and Pembrey not too far! There's also Epynt although I made sure I had a rear cage in before going there!
