J B Gears

Bit of a longshot, but I'm sure some of you must have used this guy!

I'm trying to get hold of John Brown of J B Gears, he formerly traded as:-

J B Gears, Thorp Arch Trading Estate, Birch Park, Street 7, Thorp Arch Estate, Wetherby, West Yorkshire LS23 7FG
01937 845030

He told me about 18 months or so ago he was retiring but was intending to continue doing some minor engineering work working from home & I believe he gave me a phone no. (the no. above is now disconnected), if he did, I've lost it! His workmanship was always excellent & he did gear cutting jobs that I couldn't get done elsewhere.

Does anyone know of a phone no. for him &/or any other contact details.

Failing that any recommendations for a specialist gear cutter that would be likely to be able to cut a 9 & 1/4"size sprocket with the profile for a Toyota starter motor pinion?

have you not thought about laser cutting, im guessing its for a reverse gear? i used rush gears online generator to create a dxf file

TBH it wouldn't have occurred to me that I could get it laser cut due to the "leads" on the teeth, but I guess it might be possible with modern laser cutting techniques. Anyone have any ides where I can find the Pitch/modulus/pressure angle/backlash etc for the Toyota starter motor???

Funnily enough i fitted a boiler for a bloke recently who used to work for JB gears and bought most of his machinery when he downsized. Might be worth giving them a call, contact details are :

JTR Engineering
4 Berking Avenue, Leeds LS9 9LF
0113 249 3835
