2 litre Duratec HE

I've got myself an 07 Mondeo as a daily car, I went for the 2 litre Duratec one. The car itself looks pretty well maintained, but is there anything on the engine I need to watch out for? It's had a new EGR valve and clutch/DMF which I believe are the two biggies. And it's too young an engine to have self destructing swirl flaps (I think?).

It has got a slight coolant leak from the left hand side of the engine bay, I think one of the pipes or the header tank itself that needs replacement. I just need to trace which one!

keep changing the oil. There are loads come up on ebay with knackered bottom ends.

Mine looks like crap but it gets fully synth every 3k miles as the engine will live on
Its been a very reliable family work horse.

Had 180,000 miles on mine before it died, why it died is what big wasa says, keep the oil clean and use fully synthetic, I didn't and it died

What are the symptoms of a knackered bottom end? The engine has done 124k, it looks to have had oil changes at 12k intervals but nothing since 111k. It ran smooth though, pulled as expected and no horrible noises.

Through work I have seen loads with 200k plus. Maintainance is key. Look after it properly and it will be fine. It's when people neglect them is when they have issues.

Interesting thread, I've just bought a 111k Firsta ST, cracking little car if a bit thirsty.
Full service history and came with new tyres ( cheap ditch seekers so I'll wear these out and fit good stuff) new discs and pads (feels like it needs grooved ones with mintex) and recent service.
I'm keen to look after this and pass it on to No.1 daughter.
