As above really.
Looking to put an old pajero back on the road. Last time it was used the starter was getting sticky. Every 5 starts or so it needed a chap with a
steel bar to get going. Now it is doing it every time. Its annoying but I only use it rarely for towing so im not that bothered.
Its getting picked up for an MOT in the morning. Can it be failed for this?
If they can't start it whilst the test is being done then yes
I have the iron bar in the car, it just needs a chap on the solenoid and it'll start.
My car wouldn't start at my MOT ! The guys gave me a bump start did the emissions and all was well !
Sounds good. Thats what im hoping. Just wondered if it was a requirement of the test to start with the key with no' extra steps'
If it's a local garage with friendly mechanics just explain the "problem" and offer to stay there during the test to start her up if they need it.... Or do the sensible thing and remove the starter and give the solenoid a clean!
Or just tell them it's been fine! It's the first time it's done that and you will get a starter motor on the way home. Maybe the solenoid being full of dents may give the game away though.
Is it me, or would it just be easier to fix it.
Yes ill probably just fix it. Although i have been saying that for a while. Anyway, went in to day and failed on a sticking caliper. So pretty happy.
