Top Gear Line-Up...
scootz - 23/12/15 at 05:48 PM

Strong rumours that it's going to be Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz as co-presenters, with David Coulthard doing the techie / testing sections.

Hope that's a go-er as that's a pretty stellar line-up!

Chris and Sabine maybe, just leave Evans out and ill do the tech / make tea for £50,000 a series (cash only please)

Meh...

Well with F1 no longer being shown by the Beeb Action man probably needs a job?

loggyboy - 23/12/15 at 10:01 PM

Whilst Sabine is ok for segments on previous TGs, the non native language will mean its a bit stiffled. I like the idea of woman presenter for balance but not sure she fits the bill, sadly can't think of a woman who would. Harris should be superb but will all be down to the chemistry.
Should be a good place to start but suspect it will be like season 1 of the rebooted TG, with changes for next season.
Hope DCs input is minmal as don't think hes a natural presenter.

Torn here!

I like Sabine, she can drive and doesn't fanny about with too much talking, but not sure she's the right presenter for the show.

Chris I really like, his YouTube videos are good and he seems to have a good presenting ability to match his love of cars.

DC - not my bag on TV, better quiet and driving TBH!

Now if I were offered the job it would be great, but sadly I fear I have to keep at my normal job and just watch it

DC ; approaching the hairpin in Melbourne (on a rather wide line) complaining "what does he think he's doing" as schuie goes up the inside
Answer = he's overtaking you it is a race
Really says it all, sorry DC not one of my favourites and I'm north of the border !!!!!!
As for Sabine who cares what she is saying id much rather look at .... sorry watch her than DC anyday

Chris Evans mentioned it on TFI last week so he's defiantly in.

nick205 - 24/12/15 at 10:58 AM

Don't know if it's increasing age doing it or not, but I'm less of a Chris Evans fan than I was - have to say I find him a little tedious these days.

David Jenkins - 24/12/15 at 12:38 PM

He can be annoying - but one thing he can do is keep a crowd buzzing.

scootz - 24/12/15 at 01:20 PM

Tough crowd, LOL.

Love him or loathe him, Evans is a very good presenter who can turn most things to gold. It helps that he is passionate about cars.

I see Sabine as playing the enthusiastic woman-child role for more light-hearted sections. The sort off character that Hammond used to (over) play. I just hope she's a little more endearing, genuine, and a lot less irritating than Hammond was (wouldn't be hard).

Harris is a petrolhead - pure and simple. He will do well.

DC? Again, not everyones cup of tea, but he has great technical knowledge and he is very good at explaining things. He can also be very funny when he's been let off the leash (still trying to shake the McLaren indoctrination out of him!). I guess he'll be the one to take the cars out for their hot-laps.

I think it could be very good and a return to the days where the car is the star of the show.

The only one I'll miss from the previous line-up is James May. He wasn't an irritating nob and deserved better than the third-rate slapstick scripts they gave him! Mind you, I guess he probably doesn't care about any of that when he checks his bank-balance.

Get rid of Evans, he's very annoying.
Chris Harris, brilliant!
Sabine, yeah I think she may struggle to pull it off also.
DC, not really seen much of him as I don't bother with the F1 etc

I'm hoping Amazons 'top gear' will be the better of the two.

I agree with all this ^

The Top Gear of William Woollard and Val Singleton here we go....

There is a factual car program with an Ex-Racing Driver, Female Presenter, Current Race Driver and young bloke already. 5th Gear was what Old Top Gear was, and is now on the History Channel !

I've got a lot of time for Chris Harris but I doubt his style will suit a 'proper' TV show where there isn't enough time to do a proper review. Sabine is a legend at Ring Taxi and racing but again I doubt she will suit UK TV on a regular basis.

As for Evans, he is extremely irritating to watch, car nut or not.

bi22le - 25/12/15 at 12:35 AM

My 2p worth, Evans has the contract and he also loves cars. He owns most of them and has driven what he don't own!

Joking aside the new top gear will be entertainment not a tech packed 5th gear so he is as good as any, I like his scatty style so I'm happy.

Chris Harris is in all day long. Unanimous there.

Sabrina, not for me. I think with someone like susie Wolfe or a female club racer fits that bill.

DC, I would prefer Ross Braun or Christian Horner or someone that geeks out on tech, not presents it.

Either way, I would like to think that the BBC has sold off so much yet understands how big TG is that it SHOULD be good.

morcus - 25/12/15 at 01:11 AM

Sounds like promising line up but I'm not willing to believe any of it till I see it.

Chris Harris as brilliant back when Drive had enough money to be decent and the inclusion of DC suggest they might have regular motorsport pieces. I'm not sure about Sabine as I've only ever seen her on topgear so not really enough reference.
