Corsa Front Arms - OEM/Alternative_Crap?
motorcycle_mayhem - 4/4/16 at 08:43 AM

I've got the usual problem with the 10 year old front arms on SWMBO's speed hump surfing Corsa, control bushes are shot.

The arms themselves look good, lower ball joint appears serviceable, fluid joint appears serviceable. Angst therefore - replace just the bush (£15 high Quality Lemforder) with all the joy that entails, and perhaps the ball joint (£26) now/later since it must be near end of life. Fluid joint isn't listed on Eurocarparts.

Complete arms with all the bits are ca. £80 OEM Lemforder, or £40 OCAP/Q-Drive. Plug and play. I've had OCAP/Q-Drive stuff in the past, it certainly hasn't been OEM quality.

Has anyone out there used these:

VAUXHALL CORSA C 1.8 SRI SXi FRONT 2 LOWER WISHBONE ARMS BALL JOINT BUSH LH&RH

They seem fantastic value..... look ideal for purpose..... but anyone tried them on the Corsa or other, or kit car?
I'm very wary of Ebay stuff.

Anyone?

Thanks.

Cheap eBay arms or bushes last months rather than years.
If you can get quality branded bushes this is a good option.

The big problem then is being 100 percent sure the parts aren't counterfeit.

I've had a couple of similar arms on previous cars, mainly to get through MOT's. In most cases, they've passed one MOT but not made it to the next. It's usually the ball joints that seem to be the weak point.

My preference now is to go for replacing the bushes with OEM kit, even if the labour time is significantly increased. And don't dismiss buying them direct from the manufacturer, they can sometimes be quite surprising in terms of price.

There is a road use grade poly bush available --- easier to fit than than the standarthe d item, fitting standard bushes to that design of wishbone can involve a lot of swearung.

I replaced wishbone void bushes on my own 75 with ploy bushes which came from Bulgaria of all places ! - no real difference in harshness or steering feel but they last much longer.
