Looking to bin my Jeep Patriot for a Honda CRV or Mazda CX-5 2014 ish. Anything I should look out for? Or anyone got a better suggestion. Don't really want to spend more than 14k.

I binned my Patriot got fed up with all the suspension issues.

We replaced it with a new Ssangjong Korando 4x4 with a full no quibble 5 year warranty. I was a bit dubious but quickly overcame this, we have had it two years and its been brilliant
Very good in all respects Ive been pleasantly supprised. No more brand snobbery for me!

You can pick up a BMW X1 2014 with 20k miles for that money, residuals will probably be better when you trade in later.

If you like the jeep, the new renegade looks interesting if big enough. Also skoda yeti gets good reviews or a vw Tiguan which I think is the same platform.

Do you nee 4wd or is a 2wd version ok?

We have the 2 litre version of the Qashqi which is nippy and thrifty also appears identical to daughters 1.6 model which means it can surprise some of the hot rods away from traffic lights and will cruse all day on motorway. The other thing is to get it serviced by an independent garage rather than Nissan dealers who are well known for their ability to rip off everyone who passes the threshold. Drop links at front seem to wear quickly but that's an indictment of the state of Cumbrian roads rather than build quality

Thanks for the replies. Yup seen an X1 and they look nice.

I'd never have anything from Fiat Chrysler again. Just had to replace the rear subframe on the Jeep as it corroded. Also Fed up with suspension. The Portsmouth Jeep dealer is hopeless too.

Mrs got a qasqui (or what ever they're called). 63 plate, one of the first of the new shape. I was a bit dubious but in 2 days I was convinced its a good car. After 2 months, a family holiday and a bit of local driving I think its a fantastic car. Its the 1.5 (105hp) and it can be a little underpowered, especially when loaded but its nothing a downshift doesn't fix. On my own its great.

I'd certainly look at the 1.6 version (extra 20hp) and am often a little jealous driving my 63 plate mondeo titanium x estate.

Daughters car is a 1.6 n tec and is pokey enough just not got 4wd which we need for bad winters but looks exactly the de even down to wheels and paint. She had never complained that it is not fast enough!

Brother in law popped round earlier. He's bought a new car - Qashqai 1.5 ntec.

They're taking over the world
