So for a while I have felt I have to scratch the Audi RS itch... either an rs4 or rs6 estate.. can't decide which though..
Will be used for weekend jollies on motorways and into the countryside where it will be driven "properly"
Has anyone owned either? what are your thoughts?
Is there space in the back to lie down?
Budget wise I've got around 15-20k so won't be a new one by any means!!
I had a 550BHP B5 RS4. Went like stink and cost a fortune to keep in one piece. Times have changed and I'd lose my license in a few days driving a it now.
Hmm yes I've heard they aren't cheap to run.. I guess a cheap used one will be full of issues...
Cheap RS models are normally not that cheap. Have a search for the carbon build up issue on the B7 RS4 or any number of issues with the C5 and C6 RS6s
Had a few friends with them, all said they felt like tanks handling-wise but fast straight line and good motorway eaters.
Lad at work has just sold his RS4 after scratching his 'itch' for 3 months.
First week he owned it he used £120 in fuel, was showing 26mpg cruising to work on mway at 60mph.
Power wise he wasn't over impressed,as Golf R's could keep with him easily.
His wa's a '56 plate Avant with 60k on clock,cost him 24k

My neighbour (who is fairly wealthy) had an RS6 for about 6months. He said it was ok, but far too expensive to run. Went to the other extreme and bought a Golf GTE, which he loves and says it handles much better, and saves him a fortune commuting
Not had either, but the RS6 would do me very nicely. Big enough to take whatever you need and pretty bloody fast too.
I'd imagine they're costly to buy a decent one and costly to run properly as well!
Seems reasonable?

Chris Mason on here had a RS6 , it was quick and sounded superb, quicker than my Tvr 500 in a drag race down the motorway, but I think the weak link
is the gearbox, big bucks if it fails, but a great car, still on my wish list, especially in the estate version

Golf R is a pretty nippy car I should imagine.
Smaller might handle better, but you'd not get much in the boot.
B7 RS4 is NA and around 360BHP once coked up. Golf R with a remap is way beyond that.
