I may have stumbled on a project locally it's a 69 beetle. Not something I've actively looked for but an interesting proposition none the less.

Apart from the usual stuff what are the things to look out for? I've been on the vw sites reading up but always nice to get some first hand opinions.

It's mot'd and used regularly. Is registered as a 1200 but has a 1600 engine. Would be coming out for a rebuild and upgrade anyway. Has had a split rear window fitted at some point which looks ok in the pics but will need a closer look to make sure it's been done to a decent standard.

Check the heater channels, they rot out. Also inner wings, door pillars and front bulkhead are rot spots. All still fixable but worth checking so you know what you are getting into. I had a Beetle as my first car at 17, coming up to 30 years later I still have it
