Worth the risk?

Three years ago I was in need of a fresh daily-driver-come-works-load-lugger.

Needed to be able to carry 2 x 1 sheets of metal, have a good towing capacity, and be a respectable family car.
I opted for an E class Merc 3.2 TDI and found a 110k miler for three grand.

Now my one doubt was that if it ever went wrong would I loose an arm and a leg?

Well last week it did go wrong. Nasty rattly noises and dripped with water. Water pump gone.

To my amazement a patten part cost a mere £36 inc postage.

Fixed and back on the road now and ready for another 3 years........ hopefully.

I love it when a plan comes together!

The journey before the one where she pee'd on the road was a trip to Bristol to pick up an MX5 on my trailer.

Obviously the Merc has a brain, and can distinguish between important journeys, and those that are importanter.

I've had a couple of S class 320cdi's over the years, best cars I've ever own, and when they have gone wrong, which was rarely, I've sorted the problems cheaply, looking for another as we speak
