Purchased an Male to female adaptor for an oil pressure sensor from m12x1.5 Male to 1/8npt but appears sender is 1/8 nptf and only goes in a turn. What is the difference as nptf seems rather rare struggling to find one.

I think they are compatible but you need to force fit to self seal - do you want to borrow a tap?

To me NPT and NPTF are the same thing. NPT is just a short for NPTF (National Pipe Tapered Fuel)

1 turn in seems not enough. For 1/8, the minimum length of the male part that should be screwed in the female part to assure sealing is 6.70mm, according to NPTF standards. So try to force it in a bit more.

As NPT/NPTF it is a tapered thread, it is self-sealing, however, in all case, it is recommended to use PTFE (Teflon) tape or liquid PTFE to assure sealing.

Could it be bspt as opposed to npt? 1 tpi difference between them (bsp 28, npt 27).

My understanding: will work fine in most of our applications. Not approved match for aerospace.
