I saw this today, a great concept to bring back a great car;

Obviously it has a price tag to match. I've always wondered whether the specialist parts shops could actually get to a point where they had
enough parts to build a complete car. I think there is a Mini parts shop that can do the same?
If there is enough demand from customers with deep pockets, don't see why it can't happen.
British motor heritage acquired the jigs for Mgb and have been making them for quite a while (these were around when I owned mine)
To keep up to date, they should i suppose move to more modern rwd driven such as mx5 or bmw.

you can buy the bare shells, they are made in the far east and quality is suposed to be a bit sub par, as for the mini, i think all parts are
available apart from the roof panel, the problem comes when you take into account the welding quality and some panels may not be up to spec.
having said all that, i would deffo have a MK 2 escort
as for the BMH shells, i have built a couple of MG Midget race cars from new shells, they are pretty good quality but do need a degree of fettling

You can buy complete mini shells from mk1 to mk7 , although the quality isn't the greatest ( old tooling etc), you could probably build a
complete new car, but I'm not sure if the gearbox cases are being re-cast. A lot of the casting of parts is down to the big spending FIA
appendix K guys who need original looking parts, Minispares are just about to put in production original spec Cooper S blocks. Its all those small
clips and brackets which haven't been made for years that will stop anybody producing a showroom spec car.

These new Escorts are no where near as strong as original ones.
The copy chassis legs etc are single skin, where as the original Escort had three skins in some parts of the chassis.
Also heard of one that got fully built up to Gp4 spec, painted the lot, they went to fit windscreen and it fell straight through the hole into the car!
Purely by coincidence, my wife and I were out walking this afternoon - an orange Mk1 Mexico went past us. Absolutely immaculate, roll cage inside,
driver and passenger looking totally pleased with themselves.
I couldn't tell you if it was original or a replica, but it did look good! Sounded good too...
There is a company I follow on Facebook. RSR Escort. Making stunning replicas. Wish I had the budget to own one myself. Might sell a kidney or a kid.
Wish I could share the photo easy on here. Can never remember the steps to do it.

Ive helped build two BMH cars, Midget and MGB, both cars lasted two years before they were as rotten as f**k
But that could of been down to the paint process, that i had NOTHING to do with
