The road I live down is made of concrete sections and every time I drove on it I sounded like the back axel was coming off
It sounded like all the bushes had were missing.
This went on for about six months. And in that time I I had it in a garage to be checked also a mot at a different time they didn’t find anything.

Hay presto
I changed the front brake pads and the slide pins at the weekend the pins where knackered
After putting it back together and taking it on a road trip
Wow no rattling wow wow wow

It just shows it’s not always what you think it could be

Ps the car is a Astra Sri mk6

I saw a youtube vid the other day, where someone had brought a car 'into his shop' for a squealing belt at about 60 mph on the highway,
turned out to be passenger window open by a mm or so, and whistling.

We see (hear) rattling caliper slide pins quite often. Its quite distinctive once youve heard it a few times.

Usually caused by dry assembly or wrong/inadequate lube. Most often curred with a good vlean and the correct grease.

Just got the MK back on the road last weekend and dealing with oil and water leaks. But she's running well.
Have you a new toy yet?

Haha you could say so it has four legs a bushy tail and big teeth and needs two hours walk in the morning and two in the afternoon
But I love her to bits
She’s a German shepherd. Three years old

As for cars not a toy but I will be look for a new every day car but it’s got to get the dog in the boot.
Im thinking of a VW caddy seven seater and removing the very back seats

I took the front suspension completely out of my Jeep once to find the source of a knock. Turned out it was a pair of welly boots in the passenger foot well knocking on the tunnel.

I once replaced the whole gearbox on my 106 for what turned out to just be a wheel bearing

Then after replacing the bearing, it turned out I'd done the wrong side....



In my defence both bearings were only a year old (maybe 10 to 15k miles) and both still felt free and smooth too - I guess that's what you get for buying the cheapest ones from the motor factors

In the end each bearing individually cost me more than the whole gearbox (turns out nobody else actually wants a 4 speed) - so it didn't cost too much, but that's 2 days of my life I'm not getting back....

Maybe the moral of the story is to get a mate to check things first
