Thought I'd get away with using my original sump gasket.... hence why i'm now looking for a zx12r sump gasket
Can't seem to find anywhere to buy one...... Any ideas?
I've used bike bandit in the states in the past. Cheap (especially considering the exchange rate)....
I just used a very fine smear of sump sealant from halfords, the joy of bike engines is the quality of the castings so only a tiny amount required.
Good price bar the fact post is $50
If using some kind of sealant using it very sparingly as Mark said as excess sealant clogging the oil pickup filter is a common cause of engine failure apparently.
Whats wrong with your local Kawasaki main dealer? I've just bought a clutch cover gasket for my zzr1400 engine, £15.00 and they had it in stock the following day.
As above, local kawasaki dealers can supply required gaskets.
I'll give them a call tomorrow.... if its overly priced i'll use sealant.
Use the correct gasket unless you can afford a new engine. Saving a few pounds in this case is a bad idea.
I've had gasket paper and NBC from these folks to make my own autobox sump gasket and others.
If the old one can be used as a pattern it's easy.
John.
You can use Gasket compoind, but make sure you dont put too much on so it squishes out on the inside. Even a little bit can clog up your filters and
oilways and its a nighmare to get out.
Personally, id try and find the gasket as you are. Longer waiting time, but you know its done properly.
£13.64 from Kawasaki
i got a busa gasket from main dealers at 12.95 so worth giving them a call
Gasket paper is typically £1.00 per 255x480mm sheet.
