Seven with a Zetec
david_hornet27 - 3/7/11 at 06:39 PM

Hello Everyone,

I have recently bought a 2.0 Phase 3 Zetec which will replace the 2.0 Pinto in the winter and was wondering if anybody in the Reading area has a Zetec powered Seven I could have a good nose around to get straight in my mind what I am looking at to get it all in?

I have a good idea of what I need to do (and buy) as some good people on here have pointed me in the direction of some pretty useful sites on the conversion. It would be good to see one in the flesh though to confirm what I am going to need to do.

I saw a few at Abingdon on Friday but was too wrapped up in the driving to take in what I was looking at...

I can bring round a nice big cake from Costco to say thanks, or supply tea/beer at mine.
Thanks, Dave.

No where near mate but you might find something helpful in my gallery below as I did the same upgrade over this winter.

Cheers

Thanks Rich, very interesting! Car looks great and the Zetec is so much nicer to look at than the trusty old pinto.

Hi david,

Pinto to zetec conversion in a seven is easy,I have done three.
It makes it easier if you are handy with a mig,for making
engine mounts, alt bracket/idler and modding the sump.

You need to consider ignition and induction as well.
I have bike carbs and megajolt ATM but will soon be changing to
fuel injection/turbo.

Good luck with the conversion,

Andy

You're welcome to look at mine if you are ever in North London.

Like Andy says Zetec's are dead easy. Mine was done on a budget, but works well enough.

I'm in Harwell, south Ox. I have a 2.0 blacktop zetec in my fury. Running newman cams, weber 45's. You're welcome to have a nose around, no cake required! (always happy to gas on about cars)

If you can access the WSCC website there are loads of links for this conversion in a westfield including parts lists etc.

I swapped from CVH to Zetec a couple of years ago and found it easy enough even for a numpty like me.
