Type 9 5speed gearbox in a Fury.
I'm taking a guess, because I did'nt build the car - would I be right in assuming the clutch cable will be from a Sierra?
Any re-assurances welcome before I buy a new one.
Cheers Tom
Hi, Tom - as you know I haven't got a fury, but I have got a type 9 and I did build it myself. I used a clutch cable off a Sierra, and had to
adapt the pedal end using a loop and some cable clamps (the type they use mounting Aerials on roofs). After TWICE snapping it at this point, I gave in
and got on to speedy cables to do me a bespoke one - cost me nearly £50 with postage, but its never give me any problem since.
With your car, it depends on not really the type 9 bit, but what release arm has been used - this depends on your 'bellend' housing
It also depends on the pedals - if they are the standard Sierra / Fiesta type with the self- adjusting quadrant, then you may be ok with a sierra one.
On the other hand, if it has a kit - car type pedal box(and I suspect the Fury is ) you may be better going down the route I used -ie.

Hi Tom, can you supply pictures of the ends of your present cable?
I am building a fury and the basic cable in mine is a standard cable.
I think it is a longer one than fitted to the Sierra, but has the same ends.

That looks the same Len - unfortunately car wont be back from the body shop till tomorrow, so cant check it out right now.
The one that's on is fine, I just want a spare for the Tour of the Alps 2012 I'm going on.
You say standard cable , then longer one - confused.com
Hi Tom,
When I purchased my kit, I was recomended the longer cable as it gives extra length
to reduce the tight bend of the cable from the pedal back to the gearbox.
It is exaclty the same as the Sierra cable in build, just longer.
It goes from the cluth pedal, forward almost to the front of the engine and back to the gearbox,
allowing enough to creat a reasonable loop and not a bend.
I am not sure what the donor vehicle is, but if you give Steve at Fury Sports cars a call,
I am sure he will tell you.
Len.
thanks Len much appreciated
My cable on my striker looks very similar to yours and is from a v6 capri i think.

I thought the longer version was off a transit van, dunno what model thought but mine goes nearly to the front and back and has a nice smooth arc.
