1998 Alfa 146 problem.
Hi,
Just towed a mate back from Loughborough as his Alfa packed up when going along.
The cambelt isnt moving when cranking seems quite taught still. The other belts are working ok.
What else could be wrong?
Thanks in advance

If the cambelt is not moveing when cranking
Teeth stripped on the belt
crank pulley bolt loose
crank pulley key way sheared etc

Italian engineering !!
I'd bet on crank pulley key sheared. Fiats are famous for it ... must be something in the Italian steel

Great engines but a full cambelt kit needs doing every 36k...... when was the last one?

Cambelt tensioner. Famous for not lasting much more than 36k. Also when the do go they eat valves and during this they munch the soft bottom end, so
expect a large bill or just buy a new engine.

I'll go for the teeth on the belt stripped round the bottom pulley. It sounds expensive whatever it is.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
