audi a3 2.0fsi
Got a strange fault which is somewhat intermittent.Genarally happens when car is up to temperature. You go to pull away and the engine almost dies
unless you back the throttle off. Also while changing up usually between 2.5 and 3.5k revs same happens usually in conjuction with a sluggish feel to
the acceleration.Again if you back off and retry its ok.All spark plugs nice chocolate colour and car has fly by wire throttle pedal. There appears to
be no mass airflow meter so maybe the throttle body does this function.Any ideas before I go down the road to see if there are any fault codes stored.

Brother has the same car and they have huge issues with faulty coils. The AA man knew what it was and even carried spares.
The particular fault you're experiencing is a slightly advanced version of what my brothers had since he bought it from Audi. They took it back
and replaced the air flow meter and timing and in all had it for around 21 days out of 50. They still won't acknowledge the fault, so much for
Audi reliability! But it does deffo have an AFM.

The only way is to get the codes red.
My bro inlaw has an A4 2.0 fsi. which had roughish idle and missfired at 80 mph when he bought it from an audi specialist.. The place had it back
loads fo times in the end gave him his money back. Theyd replaced everything and it didnt solve it. Even audi couldnt find it. Turned out to be the
flywheel.
Dual mass flywheels can cause weird problems as the knocking plays havock with the sensors.

Does the 2.0 FSI have a dual mass flywheel? I thought it had a normal one and that dual mass were generally reserved for diesels like the Transit and
diesel Vectra which both have bad histories of problems with them.
