Hi

I have a 4.2 Range rover V8 on Eidlebrock 500 and that has gone through MOT emissions (for 3.5% CO 0.12 HC limits).

It took a little tweaking but it passed.

Hope that helps!

What year is the block, and did it originally have Cats?

The IVA regs will test your engine on its age.
Suggest you put an Old RV8 in, the older the better, then drop the 4 litre one in later on.

3.5% CO2 is pre Cat Engines.
If its Post 94/5 (I think) you will need a CAT etc.

Check this out first.
Check the engine numbers on your block to see what year it is BEFORE you spend money and get it all fitted in, only to find it fails as you need CATs etc etc.

Its a proper car... not a kit car...

Built and registered in 1996.. it would origionally have had cats and EFI..

OK, never the less if its got cats then you will make it harder to pass the emissions without the EFI. (IMHO)
I assumed you hadnt got the cats on it, and it was a kit.
You can try it and see.

Also remember that you will need to change the fuel pump. EFI is 40+psi, Webber Carb will need about 6 (ish) PSI.

Just a thought.

I cant see why you would downgrade!
EFI is better smoother, and a little more economical.

Was on a car I was thinking of buying..

for what ever reason the previous owner has diched the EFI... presumably it broke... Apparently its properly setup on the carbs.. but I dont think its worth the stress of getting it to pass MOT...
