Right Question 2 of the day......

here we go again,

i am currently planning out my new fuel system and i want to run it past the wiz kids, ie you lot, before i start ordering stuff.

the inlet to my fuel pump is about 12 mm and the outlet is 8mm i think?(i need to double check and confirm) i have yet to say what JIC fitting i want on the outlet of my new fuel tank so i was thinking along these lines.

if i get a JIC -08 male fitting on the tank (ID 7/16" or 11.12mm) i can then use a pre pump low presure filter with JIC -08 male fittings on the inlet and outlet. on the inlet to the fuel pump i would have an adapter with a JIC -08 male on one side and the matching thread to the inlet of the fuel pump of the other side. on the outlet of the fuel pump i would have another adapter with the matching thread on one side and a JIC -06 male (ID 5/16" or 7.93mm) on the other.

obviously next we have the high pressure filter, which i will have JIC -06 male adapters on the inlet and outlet and matching thread to the thread on the filter casing. Then on the fuel rail i will have JIC -06 male tig'd on the inlet. Ok so good so far, now here come the questions.

what do i put on the outlet of the fuel rail? do i have a JIC -06 (5/16" or 7.93mm) or should i put on a smaller JIC -04 (3/16" or 4.76mm)? with regards to the pressure regulator, this would be dependant on what exit i have on the fuel rail. obvioulsly if i have a -06 on the outlet of the fuel rail i would have an -06 on the inlet of the regulator and the same if its an -04 on the outlet. so do i put on a JIC -06 (5/16" or 7.93mm) or do i put on a JIC -04 (3/16" or 4.76mm) or does it not matter? with regards to the return at the tank end this would match the outlet of the pressure regulator.

i think thats about it.

Cheers

I would make the return the same diameter as the supply to the fuel rail. The fuel regulator will regulate the fuel pressure at the rail, but potentially, the same amount of fuel supplying the rail could need to be returned.

Makes no odds. 8mm fuel hose will flow enough for over 600bhp anyway unless you are using alcohol.... Just go with whatever fittings make it easy to connect up.

I went with 10mm connections on everything other than the fuel return to the FPR which is 8mmm as thats what size the connections are on my swirl pot. The main feed and return to the tank is also 8mm.
