Age related mot

My zx12 powered indy is on a age related plate, want to retax it online but it is showing mot required, the car was first put on the road 12 months ago, I was under the impression it wouldn't need an mot for three years,my mate alan has just had the same problem with his q reg r1 indy that is also 12 months old, peterborough dvla were no use to him and he was told it does need an mot even though he was advised by vosa that it didn't, dvla told him that they can overrule vosa,in the end he just mot'ed it, is this my best course of action or are peterborugh dvla missing something ?

I had same problem last week - tried online and post office and wouldnt let me dispite being registered last July. Went to Notts DVLA in end and they were fine with it and suggested i come back next time as well as probably wont get taxed anywhere else until the 3 years are up.

Yeah mine is an age related plate - the donor is a 1988 Sierra however they gave me a FC03 plate for some reason. I also filled out the V112 form and handed that to them.
