Chain diff

I have been looking into making a chain diff.
Sorry for the numpty question.

Is it only rear wheel drive cars that you can convert to chain driven differentials?

No... if you wanted to put a bike engine in the front of a front wheel drive car... you could, I am sure, figure out a way of making a chain drive dif to suit!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Concept will be same for driving either end, just be aware of too short a chain run, they tend to overheat if too short

This will go on my new scaled down version of a 7ensque.

It will be run on a starter motor and latter on i am thinking of a 80cc bike engine.

Does anyone know what is the smallest diff i can find to convert?

How small will it be? going on the engine size 80cc sounds like a kids toy in that case I would drive it same as a go kart no need for a diff at all

Cheers
David

I was looking into going IRS for it.

Probably with Renault Diff and Renault 21 short driveshafts.

Go karts or quads is another option but not wide enough for my plans.
