International moving companies - Need recomendations

Hello,

Probably one of you may have a great tip that will save me some google hours... Specially the non-UK members.

I need a transportation company to bring my Aries Locoblade parts from the UK to Portugal. The parts will be inside a proper transportation wooden crate. Need a door-to-door service.

I contacted Portuguese companies previously, before I knew the crate sizes and weight and the prices were OK. When I got the final sizes and weight, for a 50% size/weight increase I got a 150% quote increase... So I now want to check UK companies to see if they do the job cheaper.

Thank you for any pointers! Best regards,
HappyFather

I was quoted 750€ plus VAT (21% in August). That makes it around 750£ VAT included.

As for you driving it down on a flat bed... Via Michelin says it's 250€ just on gas and toll from Ilkeston to Lisbon, not counting eurotunnel fees. On a 23h drive, it requires resting and eating... So probably not economically feasible...

Would not one of the big international carriers like DHL or Fedex be cheaper, they move loads of stuff internationally and have local depots here in the UK

I now have an auction going on Shipply. Thanks, found the site very interesting.

Fedex site makes it seem that they only handle mail and parcels up to 25Kg.

DHL... I had requested a quote on the 15th May. They requested a bit of additional info and then never replied... Resent the request with updated info and a complaint about the lack of reply. Let's see if this time I get a quote.

Thank you all for the answers. Best regards,
HappyFather
