Te beauty is I can do what I want to the car, but it won't need IVA and will be assessed on age related emissions.
I reckon a midget shell is lighter than a mini too, so is ripe for a bike engine (if I end up going down that route and not full restoration/K
Series)

Depends which mini and which midget www.carfolio.com (which normally seems pretty accurate) has:
1972 MG Midget III (Chrome bumper A series) Kerb weight 685 kg
1974 MG Midget (Rubber bumper wheezy 1.5) Kerb weight 740 kg
1961 Austin Mini Cooper Kerb weight 584 kg
1988 Austin Mini City E Kerb weight 615 kg
1992 Rover Mini 1.3i Cooper Kerb weight 690 kg
IIRC the later mini's crept over 700kg
So pretty much comparable (and as such a BEC is feasible)

If I go BEC, it'll be pretty much a racer that has license plates.
I read an article on race midgets and the class A car in the test was running at 518kg with a (much modified) 1275 engine and suitable 'box.
My R1 Indy weighed in at about 480kg, and by my reckoning I can get a midget to about the same weight (or not far off).
Either way you look at it, the bike engine will have about 3 times the bhp and a fair bit more torque than the a series (bearing in mind my car is
running a 1098 engine at the moment) - if it weighed exactly the same it would still be a lot faster.
