tyre sizes

Hi Does anyone know what other profiles of tyre i can fit in place of my 205 55 16s that are currently on my passat estate?

I want to keep the rolling curcumferance the same.
Thanks

without changing the width, you wont be able to change the profile without altering the rolling circumference

You could fit a 305 35 16 that reads 1.8% slower. Or a 305 20 20 that reads 0.3% slower..... although you would need to fit 20" rims.

Why do you want to change the profile?

Your tyres now have a profile of 112.75mm, whereas if you got to 205/60 that makes 123mm. I guess you might want to go that way for comfort, or if the 55 profile are expensive (I've found that some are odd sizes that aren't very popular so they're more expensive)

Have a play here
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

195/60-16 will give a 1.3% error (i.e. if you had a 100% accurate speedo it would read 60mph when doing 60.8mph).

215/50-16 will give a 1.7% error the other way (speedo reads 60mph when doing 59mph)

What width you can fit depends on the width of the wheels you have, but you'll probably find the above two will fit and work fine. Depends what you want really.
