Spectating in the Rain?

I really fancy going to Croft today to watch the HSCC qualifying and races.

Trouble is, it looks like it's going to be wet all day.

Any hints / tips for spending a day in a field watching cars go past in the rain?

I could take the kids beach tent, it's not that big:-

??

Mike

Take as little as possible.

Wear wellies or waterproof hiking boots
Wear waterproof trousers if you have them
Wear waterproof jacket or a poncho

The more kit you take, the worse things get. If it wont go into your rucksack or pockets, then dont take it. With the wet and mud, youll only regret it.

Mike, I've seen things like that up on top of the bank above Hawthorn. Seem to be OK.

Planning to pop through myself... with brolly.

Just wear shorts and take a shower gel. It's called economy

Oh, and make sure you've got a towel in the car.

take nothing with you as others have said. I prefer lightweight waterproofs and a change of clothes in the car and expect to get a little wet.

The tent looks like a good idea (if it's actually waterproof...). Otherwise, I would advise not wearing loads of waterproof clothing unless it's breathable; with the current temperatures, you will be running with sweat in no time. Brolly would do it. Possible that and a groundheet, then you could use it as a min shelter (like the tent) but more easily movable if you want to go to a different place.

Is there any other type then?

IMO, always get a decent set of waterproofs, not the plastic unbreathable type. Ive only ever had one non-breathable jacket in 15 years, which survived only one use.
Bike waterproofs are always very good.
