Mira tomorrow

Got a day out of the office tomorrow. Going to Mira proving ground nr Nuneaton to test out the design of my vehicle

Unfortunatly its not as glamorous as it sounds

Can't say any more than that I'm afraid, and they don't let me take cameras in.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I may be able to report back in a few weeks (tests will be going on for 2 weeks). But its all dependant on the weather. Can't do the handling circuit in the wet.

And trust me, its nothing to be jealous about. its work.

I used to have a driver's pass at MIRA. The little track in the centre with the off camber roads and the man hole covers is fun, except when you're a passenger and the driver is testing for understeer on off camber corners at 80 MPH. That was a day not to eat much breakfast.

A couple of colleagues of mine will be at MIRA tomorrow. If you see an artic driving round with one or more flat tyres, give them a wave.

Tim, I get all excited for a day out of my office to go to your work.
We should set up a Busmans holiday for locostbuilders to do a job swap

Grass is always greener.....

I sit in my dilbert cubical all day dreaming of exotic trips, while my friends sit in airport departure lounges wishing they were back home.

I work with people who go round and round the proving ground until they are sick of it, while to me (and you) it seems all very exciting.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Tim.

Well... you get paid for 8.30 to 5, 5 days a week. You could well end up doing a bit more than that. Don't expect to use your holiday "entitlement" (I've not managed to take any of this year's yet - Although I was off sick at the start of the year - What a surprise). If you do manage a few days holiday i.e. no one calls a meeting (normally overseas) that you HAVE to attend just when you thought you'd found a holiday window, be prepared to take a few calls and respond to emails etc.
The salary looks nice but the hourly rate is cr*p!
There, have I sold it?

More fool you. They've really got you under their thumb. You and your colleagues should start to stand up for yourselves. You are legally entitled to 4 week's paid holiday per year. Use them.

Well, today at MIRA I saw a Mclaren MP4-12C... yummy.

Also a well disguised mule car that I am pretty sure was a lambo.

And the new Mini Countryman... its big.

Shame they ban all photography

Will be back again next week
