Never watched it before or understood it before. I thought it was just a classic car show, which I'm not all that into but the show looks great on telly! Wished I could have gone now.

Was it James Hunt's old A35?

Don't think so.

His was a van.
This was a full race one with a reported 100bhp.
Martin looked as if he was falling asleep even though it was flying.

Well I went to Oulton Park for the Gold Cup august bank holiday weekend and saw all them cars and more. Cracking weekend including waking up Monday morning to the sound of big v8's barking into life... heaven..

Some pics here...

I went to the revival for the first time this year- its not just a car show. The car parks are though, especially the 'free road tax(pre 1970) one. I took a photo of my lad next to my favorite car parked there (1920 blower bently). The racing was fantastic, you have air displays between races and displays of (say) 1930s commercial vehicles driving round the circuit too. The car assembly area is fantastic - where else can you be stood next to jag C-types/D types/Astons, ferarris, BRMss ERAs etc, all close enough to touch as they are fired up and driven off. Also saw Jackie Stuart and Stirling Moss getting into their cars for a bit of a blat. All in all a great day out, even my missus was entheuastic to go back, and cars aren't really her thing. We would definately make the effort to do the dressing up bit too.

Regards
Hugh

The total value of the cars in one race boggled my mind - £250,000,000! Yes, a quarter of a billion...
