Local pickies are offering about £45 per cat this week. Probably worth trying your local scrap metal dealers for a better price. Someone posted a link recently on the forum about current scrap metal prices with an up to date price

Cats vary between £5-£150, depends on size, what car it's of, is it O/E or pattern etc. Got a tenner each for Scooby cats but £65 for a Volvo one, Jags are £45.

Cats have small quantities of precious metals in them. They should be recycled.

Johnson and Matthey at Royston are the industrial metal refiners, and do it by the ton, so must be worth doing.

Dont bin it... make sure it goes for re-cycling even if you get nowt for it.

You should be able to get something for it somewhere.

European Metal Recyclers give about £75.00 each for Original Equipment cats, £20.00 for others. They are currently the fastest growning priavetly owned company in the UK. They even have their own docks and ships. Your local scrappy/pikey probably sells to them.
Plus they do collections.

I had an OE Punto one this week and the replacement came with a £25 surcharge. 3 different scrap guys were unwilling to better £25 so it went back as exchange.
