No spare tyre!

Guess who assumed all cars have a spare tyre?

Wife got a flat in the grand scenic. Called me up,"talk me though changing the tyre".

It was pretty confusing when she said there wasn't a spare tyre!!!

Anyhow, I got a lift there, tried with the hopeless tyre gloop stuff, failed. Called rac and gig a temporary plug which got me back to my mother in laws where I'd left my car.

Guess how angry she was when I realised I'd left my car keys at home?

Oops.

So, it's worth checking if your swmbo's car has a spare or not. If not, make sure you buy one or pay for breakdown cover.

I think there was a post on here a while back, that most new cars do not have a spare
as it saves weight
really is a false economy

It is ok in one of our lightish cars to drive even on flat tyres, but not the family tintop

A spare wheel is an optional extra for about £50 with some manufacturers

The Golf spacesaver spares are rubbish as well. They feel like they're going to fold up under the car round roundabouts.

To retrofit a spare to a grand scenic is about £300!!! You need the winch for under the car and the wheel/tyre which is a rare size and I have only ever been able to get from Michelin.

Thanks prawnabie, I thought it might be expensive. Going to try a scrappers, or even buy a replacement wheel, get a bag and strap it into the boot.

Chuffin rip off!
