Mondeo/zetec question
Thought I got another bargain, but may not be so.
we needed a cheap run around and bought a 2000 mondeo for £500 with 12 months MOT of ebay (Would make a nice engine donor for my next project when
ready)
Odd thing is that it has a silvertop zetec rather than a blacktop!!?? (Previous mondeo I had was a 98 and that had a blacktop which now resides in my
locost)
Engine seems pretty good, but obviously not a perfect car.
The main issue is that it does is give a but of a thud when changing gear, at the point you release the clutch pedal. (almost like the engine mount
has gone.)
I will check the mounts tomorrow, but is there anything else that it could be?
As always all suggestion welcome

Might also be worth checking one of the N/S/F wishbone securing bolts isn't hitting the gearbox if it's been fitted from below.

Thanks will check the wishbone bolts.
The thud seems to be harder when releasing the clutch at higher revs.
So hopefully it is something as simple as the mount or wishbone bolt, really hoping its not a damaged clutch.

2000 was when they switched from zetec to duratec...you're 100% sure it's a zetec car?

Pretty sure it says zetec on the cover and exhaust ports on the front of the car. It is a mk2 mondeo, I think the Duratec was mk3

Having started playing round with it today it Seems the silver top may be a retro fit.
Did the Blacktop and silver top use the same transmission parts? (gearbox & clutch)
may explain the lack of smooth gearchanges
