Internal garage door locks (enfield?)
I want to put an additional lock on my garage doors, seen this style at £22 per pair:
ENFIELD GARAGE DOOR BOLT LOCKS on eBay (end time 30-Dec-10 07:06:29 GMT)
But as I can lock them from the inside (I have a door out of the garage into the utility room) they don't even need to use keys as I'm not
going to drill through to the outside.
Does anyone know of a lock that works in a similar way but is just pulled across by hand (not a key) and is therefore cheaper?
Tried searching on here and on eBay etc and I'm not finding anything but I'm sure I've seen them before
I guess you could adapt a normal lock if it had enough throw?
Suggestions please

couldn't you just use padbolts on the inside?
that way, you can still lock them up if you're going away or leaving the door shut for any length of time.

If they're the same as mine (and I think they are), then you can lock them from both sides so just stick them on the inside and just don't
drill through. Might need a spacer though as the key pokes through a few mm to the other side. Either that or simple a piece of metal with suitable
hole drilled through the length and same into the wall/frame and a piece of long rod. I think mine have best part of 2 inches into the frame

they are utter rubbish.
I had four fitted to my garage door. 5 lads ran at it and it bent the door so much that the bolts just pulled straight out the concrete floor.
4 motorbikes were stolen.
IF you have an internal door, then I'd suggest two lengths of box steel across the door, with a couple of hooks welded on t the box section and
hooked round the internal door supports to secure the door from being pulled out , one length low to stop them peeling it up, one high to stop it
being peeled down.
Four brackets for the box to sit in, two lengths of box steel, and four hooks should be all you need.

HI, my solution to improve the security of my upnover door was simply to drill a 10mm hole through each side of the door 6" down from the top
and through into the frame then a couple of 10mm bolts push into the holes.
next a short length of wire to tie the bolts to the door stops losing them.
this is seriously locost as in nococost.
have also given thought to using a couple of rods with a handle but never got round to it and have since made some big gates to keep prying eyes and
hands away from the garden /garage etc

Why not just fit a couple of these. Cheers Ray

My garage is integral to the house so on the inside of the up & over door, ive fitted shoot bolts that you can padlock too, two at the top that
lock into the frame and the two on the bottom i just drilled into the concrete slab with an SDS.
I can lock them on the inside, walk into the house/downstairs hallway and ive also got a chubb (front door type) lock on this door so if anyone does
manage break into the garage, they cant get into the house easily. I also have 6ft high double gates on the driveway so its about as secure as i can
make it.
Only cost about 15 quid for the shoot bolts and my dad gave me some very large padlocks that are all keyed alike so i dont have a pocket full of
different keys.
Give a man a fish & it will feed him for a day, give him a fishing rod & you've saved a fish.

I've just got two regular bolts on the inside of the door, one each side, that are spaced out slightly so hey overlap the frame of the door.
They cost less than a tenner, and you'd need some serious leverage to break through.
Can take a pic if you need some ideas?
