Weird Tintop problem
Mondeo TDC1
Twice now I've experenced a momentary steering lockup just after hitting a bad pothole. Hell of a bang from impact then first time any lock is
needed, i.e at next bend, it feels like the power assist has failed momentarily, then behaves ok. The car drives fine at all othe times. The 2nd
occurence was last week in a puddle that hid the hole and it felt like something crunched back into place after I turned the steering wheel.
We've just had the car up ramps and can see no sign of any problem.
I'm less worried now I've had a good look, but it is not a good feeling when it doesn't work - both times I thought I wasn't
going to make the bend (in both cases speed between 20 and 30)
Any ideas?

My first thoughts are that it stops working when getting wet or are hit hard. Surly that must mean electrical.
So maybe check wheel speed sensors \ ABS or power steering gubbings.
Hope that helps.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!
