Another dodgey Ebay sale??
Sorry if it's a repost!
Locost Seven Kit Car, NOT caterham westfield haynes on eBay (end time 23-Jan-11 15:06:07 GMT)
Am I missing something here? The car has been SVA'd and road legal but now he's selling it without the V5 so will need to be IVA'd?

Very strange though! Perhaps SVAd but never registered so needs IVA'ing. Do MACs expire?

Why the yawn Steve, don't you think completely different cars should be correctly tested to ensure the safety of them?

You sure thats not the thread mookaloid posted a link to above that still exists?
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Would have to guess he's keeping the chassis number and v5 for his 'new project' so he doesn't have the hassle of IVA ?
If thats the case, then fair play to him !
It's not like he's trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes with the ad.....probably been a bit too honest!
Me very slow typee.... LOL

Hmmmmm. there doesnt seem to be anyone at the door!

Swoping an id from one vehicle to another has only one name, and it is illegal.
AND, the new car wil not have been checked by anyone !

What you say is correct... but that is only assumption as to what may or may not happen in the future.
There is nothing wrong with selling this car for parts (as is stated in the ad). He even says you must IVA it and it ought to be stripped and
re-built.
Cheers,
James

This all seems dodgy but what seems dodgiest to me, how can you sell the chassis without the Chassis number? Surely that something that is completely
illegal to retain? Has anyone reported this to Ebay? I'd do it myself but last time I tried it was too complicated (Especially compared to
Autotrader).
His most Hienous crime is the title, I don't see why anyone would buy anything they weren't searching for because it had 'Not

Because anyone searching for the cars that it is not would see it and may consider it. Happens all the time hoever annoying it may be.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

As long as the V5 has the 'permanently scrapped box' checked and surrendered, I'd agree.

Nothing dodgy about that sale at all, imho. He's just selling a collection of locost parts basically - it's not even a complete car. The
fact the car was SVAd merely serves as an indication of the quality and suitability of it.
What is potentially dodgy is what he's planning to do with the ID. So it's his next car on ebay we want to steer well clear of .

Exactly, what possible, legal reason could there be to retain a Chassis number?
Are people really stupid enough to fall for the 'not a' trick and not notice? that sounds like the sort of justification someone might
tell themself for doing it but then again some people seem destined to be tricked.
The whole thing doesn't seem right and should be reported.

Maybe he feels that enough parts have been removed to warrant a rebuild requires a new IVA.
Otherwise I could buy it, bodge it back to life with a 300hp turbo busa held in with gaffa tape and a set
of old Mini drum brakes then sue the arse f the seller after I killed someone with a "correctly IVA'd" chassis.
