hinckley triumph engine
Hi, I have a triumph three cylinder engine which I bought a long time ago on a whim and it is time I sent it on to someone who might use it. Problem
is I have no idea what it is.
Can anyone id it from the engine number which is........DO 20139.?
I will try to get some pics tomorrow.
Thanks Denis
Where did that go?

I potentially might be able to find out some details of the engine (I work at Triumph as a design engineer), however I've never done a search
using an engine number so can't promise anything.

Chances are its going to be a Daytona 900, Trident, Trophy, Sprint, Super 3 & Speed Triple - so you have got a choice
Maybe the Triumph OC would help?
Cheers,
Raz
When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

Yeah I'm on placement at the moment, I've worked there for 7 months now, I'm on a power train design team.

My house mate has just got that job for next year. What sort of projects have you been working on?

It's been an amazingly varied job and ranges from a organising a lot of testing e.g. track endurance testing, mileage testing or wind tunnel
testing at MIRA, to designing one off components for test rigs, to high volume production components. Along with solving all of the problems that come
with testing bikes, say finding out why a bike is blowing head gaskets, overheating or burning oil, as you are put in charge of say the mileage
testing of a bike (I was given the Speed Triple), the test costs around £50,000, so you need to get it right first time and then as problems arise you
go about solving them. All of the jobs are ones which would be done by and are done by fully qualified engineers, so its all worth while work.
Do you know if your house mate will be working on the power train or chassis side of things? If it's power train he may end up taking over from
me.

He's in power train, so looks like he will be. Are there many placement students in that dept? Sounds like a nice varied placement!

I think there will be 3 power train placements this year. Do you happen to know who he was interviewed by as that will tell me who's team he was
on.
