Pinto People.. Can you help?
Hi Folks,
Somehow I've been landed with the task of replacing the top-hose on my girlfriend's elderly uncle's P100.
The problem is that you can't buy them anymore. While I can find what appears to be an identically shaped hose on eBay, it doesn't have
the sender unit (if that's what it is - perhaps something for the auto choke?) and the 10-12mm branch that comes off the hose. Photos below:
Apologies for the quality - not sure what went wrong.
Anyway, the eBay item is here:
The hose is screwed - no chance of a repair - now I think I could make one using CBS parts, assuming that the sender unit is the right thread (any
ideas) for their boss, but I'm going to be looking at £50 in parts for a P100 that can't be worth much more than £200. Any better ideas -
can I do some crafty plumbing?
Cheers
TC

Have you tried your local Ford dealers, spare department? I've had no trouble buying parts for old Fords. Didn't need any VIN info or
anything, just told them the car model and year.

Can you make something up with copper plumbing joints - got to be cheaper than the CBS route?

can you not chop it so and join it so you can keep the sender bit on it, if you are stuck use some ali tube and flare the end or get an oyster tool
from B&Q then join it back.
You can also get ali rad joints from Arco.
Think about it, think about it again and then do it.

Sorry I can't help you with your problem Tim, but can I ask where you got the new pipe from on eBay (in the picture). The reason I ask is
because I am having issues trying to sort out the cooling system on my 2l Pinto. That pipe looks like it may solve the top hose to thermostat housing
issue.
Thanks
John
