OT - TinTop Clutch :( [1.8 focus]
my tin-top's clutch is one the way out (I can hardly accelerate without it sliping a bit)
so anyone ever done a clutch on a 1.8 petrol mk1 focus ?
how bad a job is it ?
will I need to drop the subframe or pull the driveshafts out ?
cheers

Not too bad but I wouldn't want to do one on my back. It's tight getting the 'box past the subframe and it'snot light.
Subframe stays in though but you do want the shafts out.

Wouldn't want to do it on a four poster, there's no access . What you really need is a two poster or scissor lift.

Years ago I did a clutch on a Maestro on a 4 poster by hanging the front end off of the ramp putting a couple of lumps of railway sleeper under each
sill and chaining the rear to the ramp. Worked OK but glad the health and safety people didn't see it
