Possible scam???

Iv just had a phonecall from a woman saying she is looking into an insurance claim that was reported within the last 3 years that i was involved in. I have never had an accident and when i told her this she just said 'ok thanks for your time'. Surely if this was genuine, she would have disputed the fact i havn't ever claimed on my insurance? Is it some kind of scam or is this routine?

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

It's probably one of these no-win no-fee agency trying to tout for business. Have you had a windscreen replaced, or repaired recently?

I had the same call type of call a month or two back. Was slightly surprised when i was told i had been in major accident. I have never in my life had an accident (touch wood)....

Possibly someone touting for business (but i think this type of misleading call method is actually illegal now i seem to recall) so they shouldn't be doing it anyway, but if at all confused or wondering why are they contacting me....just hang up.

I joined the telephone preference service to stop these kind of calls, and it works pretty well (apart from calls from overseas).
The few I do get through now I have a little game, trying to keep them on the phone as long as possible.
The last time someone rang about "the accident I had in the last 3 years" I kept the bloke on for ages telling him about getting hit by a public transport vehicle and ending up in hospital with loads of injuries and having heart problems all associated with the accident.
I could hear him drooling on the other end of the phone thinking about how he was gonna milk this cut and dried case.

At the end I just said "oh, 'ang on, no, that wasn't me, I'm getting confused, that was Coronation Street last week..."

I'm sick of cold callers, dunno how many times they've woken the baby up.

Yep definately ambulance chasers as above. I get the same in text message form - 'our records show you're entitled to £4000 compensation for that accident you had' - that sort of cobblers. I'm tempted to reply 'your records are a pile of carp then' but never bother. They're just spamming trying to find the people who actually did have 'that accident'.

Parasites.
