Excellent condtion ?

Can someone define the term "excellent condition" please as applied by the motor trade.

Been with swimbo to ooh at 2 different cars today one at a main dealers both described as excellent.

Car one, main dealer without even trying obvious signs of bodywork repair down one side closer inspection you could even still see rubbing down marks under the paint this was a 7.5 k car !!! Didn't have to get into looking for it mode it jumped out and hit you in the face waking towards it for the first time, salesman "mmmm I wasn't aware of that"

Car 2, independent but not a small retailer, dent in bonnet looked like it had been hit with an ball hammer, torn leather, scratches down both sides, 2 tyres on wear blocks spare wheel missing.

Had a short spell selling cars myself, the one thing drilled into me was "presentation, don't give any reason for anyone to knock the car"

Well will give private ago and sell ours, anyone selling a megane or pug 307 cabriolet ?

Same her went to look at a " Mint" one yesterday. Corsa C for chav son. on the phone it was a beaty so off we went 100 miles round trip.
grinder marks on the pass front side window WTF??? 2 marks on the side that looked like the sides of a golf ball "Bird shit" corrosion I reckon.
Speaker holes in the rear arm rests
stand on the drivers side carpet and the water comes peeing out to meet you.

I WAS NOT impressed and told the guy so. He just gave the impression that perhaps i was looking for too much. Many of the others we have looked at are the same. One had a full service history by a v/hall deaer. It was mint but when inspecting the engine bay the filler cap was mayo'ed up. Then we noticed NO WATER in the header tank??? and when squeezing a hose the water that came up was clear with no antifreeze.

Fairly makes you angry though. No one seems to care/look after anything nowadays.

I have had this...

I really wanted a Seat Ibiza Cupra R last year... went and looked at 4 of them before I realised that the sort of people who own them are feckless idiots... all of them were an utter mess.... The most amusing one was the "totally standard perfect example" in a showroom in B-ham with random holes in the dash for "special wiring" and the wheelarches flaking away all over the showroom floor....

In the end I gave up and kept the car I had...

It would appear "mint" means "sh-ite" and "excellent" means anything from "poor" to "passable"

i know what you mean. We have just bought a Disco 3 from a main dealer for not a small amount.

I went to collect it last Saturday after it had been 'valeted'. a quick look round as I drove up and I could tell it was not right. A more detailed look and i found mud on the rear seats, clips missing on the rear seats and sweet wrappers still in the door!!!

The salesman was a bit embarrassed and said he would get it back in the workshop. I went back on Sunday and he said the 'valeter' said that ''it was 5yrs old''.

If it wasn't such a good deal i would have walked.

I will clean it properly this weekend.

Well there you go the good old " I take pride in my work attitude" I hope you had words with him/them. At the end of the day its your money and I bet the owner/manager would be well pis*ed off to lose a sale for the sake of a hoover out.

I can't believe people sell cars in that condition, you'd think it would be standard to clear a car of kerrap before trying to sell it

Nice one well done and you will learn a lot as well ( unless you've done off road before)
