you seen the price of diesel? and listening on the radio it seems the government have done a complete U-turn and decided that they are now bad for the
environment so are now looking at increasing even parking permits

well I can't decide for you but I'm glad I don't have a car with an engine that the goverment has now decided they don't like.
What I would say is have a good look at car reviews on the web (the ones done by owners) as some of the mpg claims for new cars are not even close to
what owners are actually getting.

na though on hills it sometimes feels like it is... the government never liked petrol cars like mine and encouraged people to go for diesel in the
belief that they would be less costly to run and to the environment but I feel sorry for those who now find they are now being demonised by
government. Only thing I don't like about diesels is the extra noise and the engines are harder to work on

Well to be fair we run a petrol 106 in 1.1 power, and a 2l tdci mondeo. The mondeo has a slightly higher road tax by about £20 and yes diesel now
costs more. However both get about the same fuel consumption but the pug is so much smaller (in a "my head is touching the roof" kind of
way) so for running cost I'd still go for diesel

206
There is a 1.8 Na diesel, known as DW8 engine. STAY away from these , very bad for blowing up. The best engine is the 90bhp hdi model, over 60-65mpg.
Belt changes are as must and make sure turdo is ok. Fab handling , stacks of leg room & head room, but not much room in the back. They are bad
for rear beams, trailing arm failures and brake compensaters seize up. Brakepipe are another issue on any car cover over 7 year old. In short great
handling / great mpg / stick to oil & filter change ever 6k and your sorted. Dont buy a basis model !! you will not gert your money back.

I recently bought a 1.9 hdi to use as a work hack.As already said cam belt and water pump
changes are a must and they are hard on front wishbones.
That said,before i got the 206 i ran a 106 diesel and this is a 100% improvement
and the fuel economy is just the same.
