Some sense at last!
Maybe they are finally realising the (temporary) speed limit set in 1965 might be a little out of date!

I wouldn't believe anything in the Daily Mail, but if there is a serious reference then this sounds sensible.

Yes but read the article.
I surmise that
They cannot use speeding fines to finance cameras
They will charge you for the awareness course
They will use that money to fund more cameras
By that time many people will be going faster ( because they read the headline as 86MPH is OK)
More money generated all round.
I rest my case.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

I got cought the other week from 50 - 40 zone within a few meters and was given the option of speed awarenes course which for £70 looks better than a
£60 fine plus points, so sent off the payment and got a letter back saying i should contact one of the course holders.
When i contacted them to book it the asked for payment details? i have paid the police, you need to pay us for the course and claim it back from the
police, i thought day light robbery was a criminal offence?

I thought the Police were supposed to "uphold the law" yet it seems they "make it up as they go along" these days.
Drive slower it pisses them off........

I suspect the thinking goes "Lots of people in VW campers do weed, and people who are stoned tend to drive very cautiously, therefore VW campers
going slower than the speed limit on empty roads should be stopped. I suspect breaking down in giggles would have been worse than taking the
p*ss"

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I imagine the thinking should have gone, "its a VW camper, 40mph isn't far off top speed"

ahh but the anti speeding lobby will go mad and get themselves on all the news shows saying how the government is hoping we all die to ease the cost
of our public services. + it makes it easier for the police to stop people.
