Speedo MPH & KPH marking requirements?
Is it a legal requirement to have both MPH and KPH marked on a speedo?
Reason I ask is my boss has just got a Volvo V60 and the speedo is only marked in MPH. Having just driven over 2k miles around Europe in it he found
it really hard work not having KPH on the speedo. After fiddling around he realised you could get the trip computer to display real time KPH, which
I'm guessing would satisfy any legal requirement, but it's certainly not as easy/safe/obvious etc. as having it on the speedo.
Checking other Volvos in the company; my V50, an S40 and V70 they all have both scales marked on the speedo...?
Volvo have been emailed to query this as well.

Nope no legal requirement and its not checked at the MOT either.... my GTO has a converted KPH speedo, still marked as showing in KPH but reads in
MPH.
Only checked at SVA for kits.

No, UK cars must have MPH. Having both isn't a requirement.
Edit to say not disgreeing with Flak. Typed while he was replying. MPH marking is a requirement on cars when they're approved. It's never
checked again.

I've seen a few bikes with a kph speedo and the cover has been taken off so some bright spark could put little stickers marked 30, 40, 60 and 70
in the right places, I persume this was adequate last time I saw one (about 10 years ago if not more)
