Is a Low-Pressure Fuel Pump...

... supposed to continuously stream fuel from an open 'outlet' when the pump itself is not running?

Oh, and will I go blind from the petrol eye-bath that resulted in removing the 'out' hose!?

If the outlet is below the level of the fuel in the tank yes it will flow through under no pressure with most pump designs.

No you won't go blind, but it does sting a bit Rinse out with cold water and you'll be fine.

i seem to recall the Long Way Round when EM got petrol in his eye. you've got to wash it out in seconds as it starts eating into your eyes straight away.
So it said anyway but i've never been that unlucky YET

Pah... Obi-Wan's a big girls blouse! I got a liberal splashing of the motion-lotion in my right eye and I just wiped it off with the back of my oily hand! It's been over 5 hours and I can still see!

I do not know about the eye problem with go go juice,
but drink a cup full and you burp petrol fumes all day.
Got sent home from school for stinking the classroom out.

Just be thankful it didn't go in your ear, you would be flat on your back in a flash as it totally screws up your center of balance, and gives you the worst earache ever. Guess how I know??

Ooh... don't like the sound of that! Had labyrinthitis once (inner ear infection) and it was a week of sheer hell! Imagine being horribly hungover and seasick AT THE SAME TIME and you're getting close! I fell flat on my face half a dozen times and ended up crawling to get from room to room!
