BMW vague steering.
Having purchased an 04 BMW 3 series recently I notice when traveling over bumpy surfaces the car tends to wander off line.
I was wondering if the fault may be suspension bushes. Has anyone had this problem. Thanks.

Wishbones, and rear void bush on the wishbone also the track rod ends - you check and find no play then check the toe-in.
If the rear end is sloppy then re-bushing is a lot easier with the proper tool.

I should add iff buying off eBay be very careful many if not most cheap steering parts on eBay are poor quality or counterfeit and in my experience
wear out in months,
Also the front wishbone and bush size changed on this model --- buy the wishbone and bush as a matching pair.

it is front control arm rear bushes they always go i had to do mine on my 330ci its a really common problem if you put in some powerflex ones you wont
have to do them again

Thanks for the tips. I saw the powerflex bushes and wondered if they would be better. Do you need a special tool or will a big hammer do.

Does it have runflats and are the tyres brand new?
When we had a 320d, the first 200 miles after new tyres were fitted were definately on the scary side. The first time it happened we were going to the
lake district immediately after having the tyres fitted - actually stopped after 30 miles and went to a tyre place and had them check the wheel nuts
were done up, balance the wheels, alignment test and check for play in every bush, and found nothing. A few hndred miles later and the problem just
went away

I have a 525d e60 which i had problems with steering it would pull to left or right if on a camber hill on uneven road.
Solved my tracking and replacing the Front Wishbone arms as they get lose quickly.
