DVLA - can they really be this bad pt2!
Ongoing niggle with the DVLA -
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=168807
I'm now in receipt of the 3rd INCORRECT replacement V5C document having called them AGAIN to get the spelling corrected
Ultimately I don't care that the spelling is wrong, it's now the principle of getting a government agency to do the naffing jobs
correctly. All this has done is reinforced my view of them as hapless collection of state paid numpties working with useless systems and no desire to
make sure the simplest of jobs are taken care of.

Make a formal complaint. This might help.

It's only when I made formal complaint that the DVLA actually got their fingers out and processed my kit car. The very nice (read annoyed) lady
from the local centre who finally rang me up to say it was sorted and gave me my road tax made me write a written retraction before she'd hand
it over (she literally held the road tax in one hand whilst saying "I need you to write to say you're withdrawing the complaint" . I
wrote something along the lines of "this lady will only give me my road tax and finish processing my car if I withdraw the complaint" and
signed it. Job done.
I'm sure if I hadn't I'd still be waiting.
In my case I actually had good cause for applying for compensation. My insurance had been done for SVA on the chassis number and the insurers
wouldn't insure the car any longer without a registration number. If the DVLA had stalled any longer I would have lost it all (it was non
refundable). So I made it obvious I'd be asking the DVLA for my entire insurance premium as compensation- seems fair, they had taken a month
already.
What was really annoying was the run-around. DVLA Swansea would say "we don't make the decisions we just advice on the rules" the
local office would say "we don't make the rules, we just enforce what DVLA swansea tells us to do" and it was near impossible to
speak to either.

They won't be in London. The Civil service has a general plan of putting everything away from where people actually live. It will most likely be
moved to wales. Moving things to London would make far too much sense as 10% of the UK's population live there.

That's the best way imo, because when the poo hits the fan you can just say "I'm not nack205, I'm NICK205.. That's not
me, bye"
I've heard of a lot of people getting out of finance with the same thing

My surname begins with double f and I was once told by a bank teller that I'd spelt it wrong
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Phone call from the DVLA...."We're really sorry to hear of your experience and will issue you a corrected V5C in the next 10 days.
You'll also receive a letter acknowledging your complaint"
Waiting patiently now to see if they can possibly get it wrong a 4th time!

It would be great if they still got it wrong, while they're investigating a complaint about how they keep getting it wrong..
At that point you might have to post another complaint and enclose the right details all spelled correctly with giant crayons
