citroen c3 help
Hi all
my dad has a citroen c3 1.4 petrol and has been having problems with it recently..all of which we thought we had fixed.
Had loss of power and backfiring. Replaced coil pack and number 1 injector in end. Running well now but fuel consumption has gone down lots.
Each light on fuel gauge used to represent 50 miles give or take 5.
Now its lucky to get 33.
Plugs have been changed too.
Any ideas to why this could have dropped like this?
There is a dust cap at end of fuel rail. Looks like cap on car wheel. Any ideas what this is?
Will the fuel rail need bleeding or pressurising?
Hope you can help
thanks
Steve

Not sure on whats causing the low fuel consumption, are the injector seals good? They have a habit on these not to seal very well. The valve is just
there to be able to check the pressure, unless it's leaking you don't need to touch it. Underneath the dust cap there is a valve exactly
like you would find on a tyre. You don't need to bleed the rail. Is there anything else wrong with it? I recently fixed a picasso with the
same engine that had a crack in the exhaust manifold, it probably lost half it's power. I also had a 206 with the same engine that the exhaust
backbox broke off, again it was well down on power.

Hi.
Thanks for reply.
When the car had loss of power, the engine management light came on too. Plugged it into a diagnostic machine a friend borrowed from work and it said
it was coil pack. Bought a new one and it still did same. After bit of research, a common fault was water leaking through wiper washer jet onto number
1 injector and corroding it. Checked it and indeed this was the case. Replaced injector and all seemed fine but light needed resetting. After few
weeks light went out on own. No problems with exhaust. Have visually checked other injectors and all seems ok. No signs of fuel leak anywhere
