tyre advice

Hi guys,

recently bought my new toy, westfield seiw with 2.0 raceline 160bhp zetec. It is fitted with 185/60/14 avon CR 338 tyres, which have a load of tread, but are a few years old and hard....

Any suggestions what I can replace them with as spirited driving is a no no,as it tends to hang the tail out without to much effort

I don't want to change the wheels at this stage, and the car is only used on the roads..

cheers Ross

Are the R888's only for track use,or would I be better with the CF1 tyre??

I have CF1 on 14" rims
They hang on
Also have a set of R888's on 13's but keep these for track

For the road, the Yoko A021R is miles better in the wet than anything previously mentioned, and just as good in the dry. They are a wet weather tread pattern on the same compound as the soft A048R so if you use them hard on the track they do start to fall apart, but they were the tyre of choice for roadgoing caterhams for many years.

Phelpsa,thanks for that.

My avons are rubbish, due to the fact they are old and hard but makes for interesting driving at roundabouts
