Ka speedo
Can anyone please suggest why a Ka spedo should fail? Are the mileometer and speedo linked? The mileometer works, speedos dead.

I can think of two reasons. One is that the cable's broke, the other that the needle is.. I'd guess if it was the cable the mileometer
wouldn't work either

Digital mileage or mechanical?
Mechanical is linked to speedo, digital I don't think is.

Digital odometers rely on the same VSS (vehicle speed sensor) that drivers the speedometer itself. If the odometer in increasing, then it's a
fair bet the VSS is working, which is the normal cause for dead speedometers on small Fords of this era.
In this case my first check would be the connectors that plug into the back of the instrument binnacle, it's not unknown for these to work loose
and cause a poor connection. If nothing obvious there, then the binnacle itself may have a fault.
There is a diagnostic mode which is simple to enter using these
instructions and from memory I think the diagnostic mode sweeps the speedometer needle, so you could rule out a stuck needle.
