Lambda sensor - which one?

So I have bought another Golf for the Daughter

Unfortunately I have an engine warning light with a P0153 code on the reader.

This apparently is a heater circuit on the Oxygen sensor - please can anyone confirm whether this is the front (pre cat) or rear (post cat) as I would much prefer to get the right replacement first time

Many thanks

Mark

What year golf? What engine size?

Although that code suggests its upstream from the cat I.e bank 2

I did have a look under the car and it does have one at the front on the manifold and one after the cat underneath.

All assistance appreciated

If it has 2 I think it's the first sensor as a bit more digging shows a different code for B1S2 which would be a post cat. Hope that helps but I would do a bit more digging yourself as what I think isn't gospel.

Bank 1 sensor 1 ie the sensor in the exhaust manifold.

Check the wiring and connector to be 100% sure the heater circuit is getting 12+Volts and a proper earth before changing anything.

If you need sensor the Gendan web site is a good place to buy.

You will need the engine code to get the right sensor.
